Upgraded | Canadian Government Funding

The Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Competitiveness (AMIC) Stream is a new component of Ontario’s Regional Development Program (RDP). It provides funding support—through grants and loans—to help small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in the advanced manufacturing sector grow. The program supports investments in capital equipment, technology adoption, and workforce development.

Funding Amount

Successful applicants may receive the following funding contributions:

Loans: Access up to 15% of eligible project costs to a maximum of an interest-free $5 million loan (up to four years);
- If the company achieves their investment or upskilling targets, a portion of the loan (up to 30%) may be forgiven.
Grants: Access up to 15% of eligible project costs to a maximum of $500,000 for small companies and $1.5 million.

Eligible Applicants

Eligible businesses must:

Operate in sectors such as aerospace, automotive, chemical, ICT, steel, or life sciences
Have at least three years of financial statements
Employ 10 or more people
Commit to creating or upskilling at least five jobs
Invest a minimum of $500,000 into their project
Be located in Ontario or planning to locate there

Adopting technology;
Skills development
Drive innovation and cluster development;
Help Ontario manufacturing companies adopt new technologies to improve outputs and competitiveness on a global scale;
Attract private sector investments; and
Stimulate Ontario’s economy and increase sector growth.
