Enabling Accessibility Fund (EAF)

The Enabling Accessibility Fund (EAF) provides financial support to organizations and businesses undertaking construction, renovation, or retrofit projects that enhance accessibility and safety for persons with disabilities. The goal is to reduce waitlists and increase access to essential programs, services, and supports across Canadian communities.

Funding Amount

  • Applicants can request between $500,000 and $3,000,000 per project.
  • Budgets must include a minimum amount of accessibility-related activities proportionate to total project cost.

Eligible Expenses

  • Flat-rate items (standard cost applied):
    • Ramps, accessible doors, washrooms, elevators, lifts, accessible parking, playgrounds, drop-off zones, EV charging stations, etc.
  • Non-flat-rate items (require quotes):
    • Accessible kitchens, safety alarm systems, slip-resistant flooring, adaptive software, lighting upgrades, door hardware changes, pedestrian pathways, etc.

Eligible Applicants

  • Not-for-profit organizations that solely serve persons with disabilities.
  • For-profit companies with ≤99 FTEs serving or employing persons with disabilities.
  • Municipalities with populations under 50,000 offering more than one disability-related service.
  • Indigenous organizations offering multiple disability-related programs.
  • Remote, rural, or territorial organizations offering services for persons with disabilities.
  • Territorial governments.
