1. Description of the molecular/cellular/imaging markers or biomarkers being studied

2. Description of the assay(s) that have been analytically validated for the intended clinical use of the markers or biomarkers

3. Plan for the acceleration and adoption of the markers and assays for cancer detection, diagnosis, prognosis, monitoring, prediction of response or resistance to treatment, markers for cancer prevention and control, as well as pharmacodynamic markers and markers of toxicity

4. Description of the multi-marker assays, including immune markers, that will be developed and validated simultaneously

5. Plan for the clinical validation of established assays using specimens from retrospective or prospective clinical trials or studies

6. Description of how the validated assays will be used in other trials, observational studies, or population studies

7. Description of efforts to harmonize clinical laboratory tests and investigation into the performance and reproducibility of assays across multiple clinical laboratories

8. Plan for multi-disciplinary interaction and collaboration among scientific investigators, oncologists, statisticians, and clinical laboratory scientists

9. Explanation of how the project focuses on the validation of assays rather than early-stage development of technology or the conduct of clinical trials

10. Timeline for the validation of the assays and integration into clinical trials or studies as investigational assays.

CanExport SMEs

Amount of Funding

Up to 50% funding to a maximum $50,000 grant per project;
Applicants may receive up to 50% of eligible costs for up to $10,000 to $50,000 in grant funding per project;
The applicant is responsible for the remaining 50% of costs;
The annual CanExport contribution maximum is $99,999 (in the event of multiple projects approved in the same government fiscal year);
A group of related companies cannot receive >$200,000 in funding in a single fiscal year. Projects budgets should be between $20,000-100,000; and
Applicants can apply for funding multiple times as long as their prior CanExport application has been completed all reporting is finished.

CanExport SMEs

Eligible Applicants

To be eligible for the CanExport program, Canadian businesses must:

Maintain 1 to <500 full-time employees;
Earn annual revenues ranging from $100,000 to $100,000,000;
Be federally incorporated federally or classified as a limited liability partnership (LLP);
Create eligible project expenses of $20,000 or more; and
Be financially stable and able to pay all project expenses not covered by the program.
