Upgraded | Canadian Government Funding

To apply for the Biomedical Technology Optimization and Dissemination Center (BTOD) grant, applicants are required to provide the following information:

1. Title of the proposed research project.

2. Project summary/abstract.

3. Description of the technology being developed and optimized.

4. Explanation of how the technology will be disseminated and made available to the wider biomedical research community.

5. Explanation of how the proposed BTOD Center is at the leading edge of its field in terms of technology development and engagement with relevant research communities.

6. Description of how the BTOD project aligns with the mission and goals of the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS).

7. Justification of how the proposed research strategy addresses one or more high priority research areas within the NIGMS mission.

8. Details of the research team involved in the project, including qualifications and expertise.

9. Budget plan, including estimated costs for technology development, optimization, and dissemination.

10. Timeline for the project, including estimated completion dates for key milestones.

11. Plan for sustainability and long-term impact of the disseminated technology.

12. Any additional supporting documents or references that may be relevant to the application.

CanExport SMEs

Amount of Funding

Up to 50% funding to a maximum $50,000 grant per project;
Applicants may receive up to 50% of eligible costs for up to $10,000 to $50,000 in grant funding per project;
The applicant is responsible for the remaining 50% of costs;
The annual CanExport contribution maximum is $99,999 (in the event of multiple projects approved in the same government fiscal year);
A group of related companies cannot receive >$200,000 in funding in a single fiscal year. Projects budgets should be between $20,000-100,000; and
Applicants can apply for funding multiple times as long as their prior CanExport application has been completed all reporting is finished.

CanExport SMEs

Eligible Applicants

To be eligible for the CanExport program, Canadian businesses must:

Maintain 1 to <500 full-time employees;
Earn annual revenues ranging from $100,000 to $100,000,000;
Be federally incorporated federally or classified as a limited liability partnership (LLP);
Create eligible project expenses of $20,000 or more; and
Be financially stable and able to pay all project expenses not covered by the program.
