Apply to Priority Announcement / Funding Pools (mandatory): Choose one relevant funding pool from the drop-down list. Only one pool per application.
Peer Review Suggestions: Recommend expert reviewers for your application.

Enter Proposal Information: Outline research proposal aligning with evaluation criteria. French proposals can exceed English page limits (6 for French, 5 for English). Attachments allowed for references, charts, tables, figures, and photos.
Summary of Research Proposal: Condense research proposal into one page.
Enter Budget Information: Detail budget justification for planned activities. Budget must include funds for annual workshops (up to $5,000). Include release time allowance request details.
Attach Other Application Materials: Upload sex/gender-based analysis training module certificate. Optionally, include applicant partner COI document, publications, and letters of collaboration.
Peer Review Administration Information: Suggest suitable reviewers. CIHR makes final selections. Avoid suggesting conflicted reviewers.
Apply to Priority Announcements / Funding Pool (mandatory): Select one funding pool from the list.
Manage Access (optional): NPA can delegate access to five individuals for support. Delegation doesn't carry across competition stages.
Print/Upload Signature Pages: Include signatures for applicants (except collaborators) and institution authority. Scan and upload in Print/Upload Signature Pages task before submission.
Preview: Review all application components for completeness.
Consent and Submit: Review terms and consent questions. Click "Submit to CIHR" before 8 p.m. ET deadline.

CanExport SMEs

Amount of Funding

Up to 50% funding to a maximum $50,000 grant per project;
Applicants may receive up to 50% of eligible costs for up to $10,000 to $50,000 in grant funding per project;
The applicant is responsible for the remaining 50% of costs;
The annual CanExport contribution maximum is $99,999 (in the event of multiple projects approved in the same government fiscal year);
A group of related companies cannot receive >$200,000 in funding in a single fiscal year. Projects budgets should be between $20,000-100,000; and
Applicants can apply for funding multiple times as long as their prior CanExport application has been completed all reporting is finished.

CanExport SMEs

Eligible Applicants

To be eligible for the CanExport program, Canadian businesses must:

Maintain 1 to <500 full-time employees;
Earn annual revenues ranging from $100,000 to $100,000,000;
Be federally incorporated federally or classified as a limited liability partnership (LLP);
Create eligible project expenses of $20,000 or more; and
Be financially stable and able to pay all project expenses not covered by the program.
