Cellular and Molecular Biology of Complex Brain Disorders (R01 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)

- Research proposal on the biology of high confidence risk factors associated with complex brain disorders

- Focus on intracellular, transcellular, and circuit substrates of neural function

- Definition of complex brain disorders as multifactorial contribution to risk and/or highly distributed functional features

- Ability to conduct either hypothesis-generating or hypothesis-testing studies

- Potential utilization of in vivo, in situ, or in vitro experimental paradigms

- Option to incorporate behavioral paradigms and outcome measures for characterization of mechanisms

- Emphasis on elucidating neurobiological impact of individual or combined risk factors

- Investigation of affected molecular and cellular components and their relationships within defined biological processes

- Dissemination of resulting paradigms, component pathways, and biological processes with sufficient detail

- Enrichment of common and/or federated data resources, such as those contributing to the Gene Ontology, Synaptic Gene Ontology, and FAIR Data Informatics

- Aim to bridge the gap between disease risk factors, biological mechanism, and therapeutic target identification

- Application for R01 grant funding
