1. Name of the proposed institutional research training program

2. Description of the program's objectives and goals

3. Target low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) as defined by the World Bank classification system

4. Collaboration between institutions in the U.S and an eligible LMIC or involvement of just LMIC institutions with a previous track record of externally funded research and/or research training programs

5. Focus on strengthening the NCD research capacity of LMIC institutions

6. Training in-country experts to develop and conduct research on NCDs across the lifespan

7. Long-range goal of developing and implementing evidence-based interventions relevant to their countries

8. Research training topics must be relevant to the interests of at least one of the participating NIH ICs

9. Potential inclusion of other NCD topics as secondary and complementary focus areas

10. Support for trainees as the lead investigator of an independent clinical trial or a separate ancillary study to an existing trial or to gain research experience in a clinical trial led by another investigator, as part of their research and career development

CanExport SMEs

Amount of Funding

Up to 50% funding to a maximum $50,000 grant per project;
Applicants may receive up to 50% of eligible costs for up to $10,000 to $50,000 in grant funding per project;
The applicant is responsible for the remaining 50% of costs;
The annual CanExport contribution maximum is $99,999 (in the event of multiple projects approved in the same government fiscal year);
A group of related companies cannot receive >$200,000 in funding in a single fiscal year. Projects budgets should be between $20,000-100,000; and
Applicants can apply for funding multiple times as long as their prior CanExport application has been completed all reporting is finished.

CanExport SMEs

Eligible Applicants

To be eligible for the CanExport program, Canadian businesses must:

Maintain 1 to <500 full-time employees;
Earn annual revenues ranging from $100,000 to $100,000,000;
Be federally incorporated federally or classified as a limited liability partnership (LLP);
Create eligible project expenses of $20,000 or more; and
Be financially stable and able to pay all project expenses not covered by the program.
