4. Disease focus: Clearly state the specific disease(s) of interest within the NIDDK's scope, such as obesity, diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism, digestive diseases, liver diseases, nutrition, kidney and urological diseases, and hematology.

5. Scientific background: Provide a comprehensive review of the current scientific literature and previous research findings related to the proposed research topic.

6. Research team: Include information about the principal investigator(s) and any collaborating researchers, highlighting their relevant expertise and experiences.

7. Budget: Clearly outline the estimated budget for the proposed research, including personnel, materials, equipment, and any other expenses.

8. Timeline: Present a detailed timeline for the proposed research activities, indicating key milestones and deliverables.

9. Expected outcomes: Define the expected outcomes of the research and how they will contribute to advancing the understanding or treatment of the targeted diseases.

10. Ethics and safety considerations: Describe any ethical considerations or safety precautions that will be taken during the research.

11. Data management: Discuss how data generated from the research will be collected, stored, and managed in compliance with relevant regulations and policies.

CanExport SMEs

Amount of Funding

Up to 50% funding to a maximum $50,000 grant per project;
Applicants may receive up to 50% of eligible costs for up to $10,000 to $50,000 in grant funding per project;
The applicant is responsible for the remaining 50% of costs;
The annual CanExport contribution maximum is $99,999 (in the event of multiple projects approved in the same government fiscal year);
A group of related companies cannot receive >$200,000 in funding in a single fiscal year. Projects budgets should be between $20,000-100,000; and
Applicants can apply for funding multiple times as long as their prior CanExport application has been completed all reporting is finished.

CanExport SMEs

Eligible Applicants

To be eligible for the CanExport program, Canadian businesses must:

Maintain 1 to <500 full-time employees;
Earn annual revenues ranging from $100,000 to $100,000,000;
Be federally incorporated federally or classified as a limited liability partnership (LLP);
Create eligible project expenses of $20,000 or more; and
Be financially stable and able to pay all project expenses not covered by the program.
