List of required information for application:

1. Name of the resource or facility being proposed for support

2. Description of the state-of-the-art facilities, equipment, technologies, research tools, software, and/or services provided by the resource

3. Explanation of how the resource is established or formed (if it is a consolidation of multiple facilities)

4. Demonstration of significant economies of scale achieved or to be achieved by the resource

5. Explanation of how the resource will increase access to supported technologies or services for researchers across one or more regions or the country

6. Confirmation that the resource does not include major new research and development efforts

7. Description of the resource's capabilities and expertise in providing research support to a large number of investigators

8. Statement of the resource's availability as a service to any qualified investigator, without regard to the particular biomedical focus of their research

9. Affirmation that the resource does not duplicate or replace resources supported by other NIH Institutes and Centers (ICs) or host institutions

10. Description of how the resource falls within the program areas supported by NIGMS

11. Plan for maintaining or upgrading the resource to current best practices

12. Outline of outreach activities that will be conducted to make the resource's capability and availability known to the biomedical research community

13. Plan for user training and support provided by the resource

14. Confirmation that the proposed resource is not a stand-alone data resource or database

15. Documentation of previous NIGMS funding that has been received to develop the resource.

CanExport SMEs

Amount of Funding

Up to 50% funding to a maximum $50,000 grant per project;
Applicants may receive up to 50% of eligible costs for up to $10,000 to $50,000 in grant funding per project;
The applicant is responsible for the remaining 50% of costs;
The annual CanExport contribution maximum is $99,999 (in the event of multiple projects approved in the same government fiscal year);
A group of related companies cannot receive >$200,000 in funding in a single fiscal year. Projects budgets should be between $20,000-100,000; and
Applicants can apply for funding multiple times as long as their prior CanExport application has been completed all reporting is finished.

CanExport SMEs

Eligible Applicants

To be eligible for the CanExport program, Canadian businesses must:

Maintain 1 to <500 full-time employees;
Earn annual revenues ranging from $100,000 to $100,000,000;
Be federally incorporated federally or classified as a limited liability partnership (LLP);
Create eligible project expenses of $20,000 or more; and
Be financially stable and able to pay all project expenses not covered by the program.
