1. Project Title: Provide a concise and descriptive title for the proposed research project.
2. Project Summary: Summarize the objectives, significance, and approach of the proposed research project in 250 words or less.
3. Problem Statement: Clearly articulate the problem or issue that the research project aims to address and its relevance to the field of correctional agencies. Explain the potential impact of understanding culture and climate on achieving the missions of correctional agencies.
4. Research Methodology: Describe the specific research methods and approaches that will be utilized in the project. Explain how these methods will enable the research team to inform the understanding of the impact of culture and climate in correctional agencies.
5. Engagement with Lived Experience: Explain how the research project will meaningfully engage with individuals who have lived experience in the subject of study, such as justice practitioners, community members, crime victims, and service providers.
6. Multidisciplinary Research Team: Describe the composition of the proposed research team and how it brings together different methods and areas of subject matter expertise to strengthen the project.
7. Diversity, Discrimination, and Bias: Outline how the project will consider and measure issues of diversity, discrimination, and bias across age, gender and gender identity, race, ethnicity, religion, and sexual orientation, as applicable.
8. Partnerships: If the research project involves partnerships with criminal justice or other agencies, provide a letter of support from each proposed partnering agency, signed by an appropriate decision-making authority. Include an acknowledgement that de-identified data will be archived with the National Archive of Criminal Justice Data at the conclusion of the award.
9. Data Archiving: Explain how the grant recipient will meet the data archiving requirements of the award. Review NIJ's data archiving guidance and propose a plan for archiving de-identified data derived from the research.
10. Dissemination Strategies: Describe the robust, creative, and multi-pronged dissemination strategies that will be employed to ensure research findings lead to changes in policies and practices related to the subjects of study. Dedicate at least 15% of the requested project award funding toward implementing these strategies.
11. Budget Worksheet and Budget Narrative: Provide a detailed budget worksheet and narrative that demonstrates how the requested project award funding will be allocated, including the dedicated funds for dissemination strategies.
