Eligible Applicants

Eligible Activities

Enhancement of on-farm genetics, initiatives for third-party on-farm evaluation of animal performance and genetic potential, improvement of on-farm feed efficiency, promotion of leading-edge management practices, projects associated with on-farm climate change mitigation and resiliency, information sharing and/or knowledge transfer activities, infrastructure improvements or innovative projects which lead to increased carrying capacity and carbon sequestration, adapting existing equipment or technologies in a new and innovative way, activities that enhance grazing and compliment wildlife habitat, demonstration and evaluation of new technologies, information sharing and/or knowledge transfer activities, adoption of process improvements that will improve operational efficiency, quality of processed products, and/or profitability, activities that will reduce GHG Emissions produced by livestock processing, activities to manage abattoir and/or poultry waste, activities that are required to achieve federal licensing, other activities as approved by the Prince Edward Island Livestock Strategy Program Review Committee, replacement of honeybee queens, expansion of the number of honeybee colonies owned, purchase of queens, purchase of splits and nucleus colonies contributing to expansion, purchase of colonies from Island beekeepers who are exiting the honey beekeeping sector, adoption and development of new beekeeping equipment, technologies, or process improvements that will contribute to colony overwintering success or improved pest management, adoption of Integrated Pest Management strategies that will lead to colony overwintering success, research activities deemed to be an industry priority, costs directly associated with industry research, purchase of queen-rearing equipment, purchase of monitoring and detection equipment for honeybee pests and diseases, purchase of beekeeping equipment or other technologies that will lead to improved management of pests and diseases and improved colony overwintering, other projects approved by the Prince Edward Island Livestock Strategy Program Review Committee, Applicant contact information, business or organization information, including CRA registration number, if applicable, partnership information, project start and end date, additional sources of project funding, recipient type (i.e. primary producer, agricultural landowner, processor), type of industry (i.e. Dairy, potato, beef, hog, grains and oilseeds), signature for declaration and consent to personal information, demographic information (optional), completion of Appendix A and/or B depending on which sub-program(s) are applying for (located within the PEI Livestock Strategy Program General Application Form)

CanExport SMEs

Amount of Funding

Up to 50% funding to a maximum $50,000 grant per project;
Applicants may receive up to 50% of eligible costs for up to $10,000 to $50,000 in grant funding per project;
The applicant is responsible for the remaining 50% of costs;
The annual CanExport contribution maximum is $99,999 (in the event of multiple projects approved in the same government fiscal year);
A group of related companies cannot receive >$200,000 in funding in a single fiscal year. Projects budgets should be between $20,000-100,000; and
Applicants can apply for funding multiple times as long as their prior CanExport application has been completed all reporting is finished.

CanExport SMEs

Eligible Applicants

To be eligible for the CanExport program, Canadian businesses must:

Maintain 1 to <500 full-time employees;
Earn annual revenues ranging from $100,000 to $100,000,000;
Be federally incorporated federally or classified as a limited liability partnership (LLP);
Create eligible project expenses of $20,000 or more; and
Be financially stable and able to pay all project expenses not covered by the program.

The PEI Livestock Strategy Program aims to increase the profitability and expand the PEI livestock industry through strategic livestock industry enhancement, community pasture support, provincial abattoir support, and pollination expansion sub-programs.
