6. Compliance with the definition of mechanistic studies, which aim to understand the mechanism(s) of action of an intervention, a biological or behavioral process, or the pathophysiology of a disease/condition

7. Confirmation that the proposed clinical trial does not aim to influence a clinical outcome, test safety or feasibility of an intervention, demonstrate the clinical efficacy or effectiveness of an intervention, or analyze the effect size of an intervention on clinical outcomes

8. Inclusion of biomedical or behavioral outcomes in humans to understand the fundamental aspects of phenomena without specific application towards processes or products in mind

9. Alignment with the purpose of the FOA, which is to investigate the biopsychosocial factors of social connectedness and isolation on health, wellbeing, illness, and recovery

10. Consideration of the FOA's companion for basic experimental studies with humans, TEMP-14931, if proposing basic science experimental studies involving human participants

11. Exclusion of model animal research or observational studies involving humans, which should be submitted under the companion FOA, TEMP-14934

12. Confirmation that the proposed project is classified as an R01 Clinical Trial Required grant

13. Compliance with all additional requirements and guidelines mentioned in the funding opportunity announcement.

CanExport SMEs

Amount of Funding

Up to 50% funding to a maximum $50,000 grant per project;
Applicants may receive up to 50% of eligible costs for up to $10,000 to $50,000 in grant funding per project;
The applicant is responsible for the remaining 50% of costs;
The annual CanExport contribution maximum is $99,999 (in the event of multiple projects approved in the same government fiscal year);
A group of related companies cannot receive >$200,000 in funding in a single fiscal year. Projects budgets should be between $20,000-100,000; and
Applicants can apply for funding multiple times as long as their prior CanExport application has been completed all reporting is finished.

CanExport SMEs

Eligible Applicants

To be eligible for the CanExport program, Canadian businesses must:

Maintain 1 to <500 full-time employees;
Earn annual revenues ranging from $100,000 to $100,000,000;
Be federally incorporated federally or classified as a limited liability partnership (LLP);
Create eligible project expenses of $20,000 or more; and
Be financially stable and able to pay all project expenses not covered by the program.
