4. Organ-specific cancer or highly related group of cancers that will be the focus of the research

5. Explanation of how the proposed research will contribute to improved prevention, early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of the selected cancer(s)

6. Description of the group of highly related cancers or common biological mechanism that will be the focus of the research

7. Explanation of how the proposed research will address the selected group of cancers or biological mechanism

8. Potential cross-cutting themes, such as pediatric cancers or cancer health disparities, that will be addressed in the research

9. Description of the translational nature of the research and how it will reach a translational human endpoint within the project period

10. Detailed outline of the research plan, including experimental approaches and methods to be used (cellular, molecular, structural, biochemical, and/or genetic)

11. Timeline for the research project, including milestones and expected outcomes

12. Budget proposal, including anticipated costs for personnel, equipment, supplies, and other resources

13. Description of the applicant's qualifications and expertise relevant to the proposed research

14. References to support the rationale and background information for the proposed research

15. Any additional supporting documents, such as letters of collaboration or support from other institutions or investigators involved in the project

CanExport SMEs

Amount of Funding

Up to 50% funding to a maximum $50,000 grant per project;
Applicants may receive up to 50% of eligible costs for up to $10,000 to $50,000 in grant funding per project;
The applicant is responsible for the remaining 50% of costs;
The annual CanExport contribution maximum is $99,999 (in the event of multiple projects approved in the same government fiscal year);
A group of related companies cannot receive >$200,000 in funding in a single fiscal year. Projects budgets should be between $20,000-100,000; and
Applicants can apply for funding multiple times as long as their prior CanExport application has been completed all reporting is finished.

CanExport SMEs

Eligible Applicants

To be eligible for the CanExport program, Canadian businesses must:

Maintain 1 to <500 full-time employees;
Earn annual revenues ranging from $100,000 to $100,000,000;
Be federally incorporated federally or classified as a limited liability partnership (LLP);
Create eligible project expenses of $20,000 or more; and
Be financially stable and able to pay all project expenses not covered by the program.
