The Canada Small Business Financing Program (CSBFP) is a government initiative aimed at aiding small businesses and startups in Canada to access loans from financial institutions by sharing lending risk. Targeting businesses with annual revenues up to $10 million, the program has facilitated over 53,000 loans totaling $10 billion in the past decade. Eligible businesses, excluding farming operations, can access up to $1.15 million in financing, including a maximum of $1 million for term loans and up to $150,000 for lines of credit. Term loans cover a range of expenses, including equipment purchase and leasehold improvements, while lines of credit can be used for day-to-day expenses. Interest rates vary, with a maximum cap based on the lender's prime rate. Applications are processed through financial officers at Canadian banks and credit unions with loan registration managed by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED).
